How to Import Your Existing Contact List (CSV)

Moving your business to GetWealthStack is an exciting step! If you already have an email list built up on another platform (like Mailchimp, ActiveCampaign, or a simple spreadsheet), you can easily import those contacts into your new CRM.

To do this, you will need to download your contacts from your old platform as a .CSV file (Comma Separated Values). This is the universal standard for spreadsheets.

Important Rule Before You Import

GetWealthStack maintains a strict anti-spam policy to protect everyone's email deliverability. You can only import contacts who have explicitly opted in to receive emails from you. Do not import purchased lists or scraped emails.

Step 1: Prepare Your CSV FileBefore uploading, ensure your CSV file is formatted correctly.

1. Open your CSV file in Excel, Apple Numbers, or Google Sheets.
2. Make sure your columns have clear headers. The most important ones are First Name, Last Name, and Email.
3. If you have a column with a lot of empty spaces (for example, if you don't have a phone number for everyone), that is perfectly fine. The system will ignore the empty fields.
4. Save or Export the file again as a .csv.

Step 2: Upload Your Contacts to GetWealthStack

1. Log in to your GetWealthStack dashboard.
2. In the top navigation menu, click on Contacts and select Contacts again from the dropdown.
3. In the top right corner, click the Import contacts button.
4. Click Choose file and select the .csv file you prepared in Step 1.

Step 3: Map Your Columns (The Crucial Step)
The system now needs to know which column in your file corresponds to the correct field in GetWealthStack.

1. You will see a preview of your file. Above each column, there is a dropdown menu labeled Choose a field.
2. Click the dropdown above your email addresses and select Email.
3. Click the dropdown above your first names and select First name.
4. Repeat this for any other data you want to import (like Last Name or Phone Number).
5. For columns you don't want to import, simply leave the dropdown blank or select Skip.

Step 4: Add a Tag (Highly Recommended)
Tags are how you organize your contacts in GetWealthStack. We highly recommend tagging imported contacts so you know exactly where they came from.

1. Scroll down to the Tags section.
2. If you don't have a tag yet, type a new one (e.g., "Imported from Mailchimp") and press Enter to create it.
3. Select the tag. It will now be automatically applied to everyone on this CSV list.

Step 5: Start the Import

1. Read the terms carefully and check the box confirming that these contacts have opted in to receive emails from you.
2. Click the Import button.

The import will run in the background. If you have thousands of contacts, it may take a few minutes. You can navigate away from the page while it processes. You will find your newly imported audience waiting in your Contacts list!
